How I Work
Sometimes your doctor may recognise that you are troubled, stressed or aware of what is going on in your life and may suggest counselling. But you may also feel that you need to talk in complete confidence to someone who will be non-judgmental and can support and help you to work through the difficulties.
Problems I work with
- Separation or divorce
- Difficulties with relationships, be it partner, family, friends or work colleagues
- Bereavement, suicide and loss
- Difficulties at work
- Retirement or redundancy
- Feeling depressed or anxious
- Sexual abuse, now or in the past
- Low self esteem and lack of confidence
- Eating disorders
What happens on a first meeting
This first session enables you to understand how we would work towards your goal. It would give you the opportunity of feeling safe, secure and understood. You may wish to deal with an immediate problem requiring strategies for coping and therefore short term sessions or your needs may require a longer period.
Sessions are 50 minutes and it is beneficial to try for the same time and day of the week throughout the therapy. I can be flexible regarding appointment times, even offering some weekend hours.
